Holidays in Liechtenstein

1. Vaduz Castle

On this day, the country celebrates the public holiday, with the festival being held on the castle territory.
2. Gutenberg Castle
This fortress, which was built in the middle ages, is located in the southern part of the state and is believed to be one of the most important places in Liechtenstein. It is considered that the castle was built approximately in the eleventh-twelfth centuries. Here, you can have a walk round the beautiful garden, located in the courtyard of the building and visit the chapel. The castle hosts festivals and theater performances as well; however, admittance here is very limited. This place is free to visit only during holidays.
3. The House of Parliament
The state capital is home to one of the numerous important attractions – the House of Parliament. The building was constructed in the last century and is designed in neo-baroque style. Every tourist should approach this building, since it is the capital’s and the state’s landmark. It looks very neat and is a perfect match for the other buildings.
4. Vaduz Town Hall
In this building, various meetings and gathering of the town council are held. The building was built in the twentieth century and is extremely beautiful: it combines German austerity and Swiss precision. In the Town Hall rooms, portraits of princes of the Principality are hung.
5. Stadle Street
This street is a pedestrian one and it is where all the important attractions of Vaduz are located. Here, you can spend a pleasant time in a cafeteria, drink coffee with local pastries or visit local shops. Tourists can see various sculptures in quiet corners of the street, visit the post office museum, or just enjoy watching the local houses.
6. Vaduz Cathedral (St. Florin’s Cathedral)
The Cathedral is built in the neo-gothic style in the nineteenth century. In the past, there used to be a Church on this place as well. The Cathedral was built to honor Florin – the patron saint.
